Phoebe Ministries Rolls Out New Balance Technology

Phoebe Ministries has adopted many exciting technological innovations over the past year, including the new Zibrio balance scale.

A valuable tool for fall prevention, the Zibrio scale employs a 60-second test in which residents stand on the scale and stare straight ahead for 60 seconds, remaining as still as possible. Then, the scale gives the resident a rating out of 10 based on their likelihood of falling within the following year.

That number is then used to inform the resident and accompanying staff if therapy or some other form of care is needed to improve the score. These scores can reveal patterns about a resident’s health over time.

The scale can also reveal short-term areas for improvement in a resident’s lifestyle choices. In a video demonstration on Tuesday, August 5, residents of Chestnut Ridge at Rodale learned about the various factors that contribute to one’s overall balance. These include sleep, medication, mental health, fitness, and more.

Scores can fluctuate weekly according to how a resident treats their body. The video demonstration offered tips to Chestnut Ridge residents on how to maintain their balance.

These technological innovations mark an important step forward for Phoebe in maintaining the highest quality of life possible for our residents.

The Zibrio scale is currently being rolled out to Phoebe Allentown, Phoebe Berks, and Phoebe Richland to help predict falls before they happen. By doing so, we create safer environments for our aging community.

Look for our Fall 2025 issue of Messenger magazine for more information on how Phoebe is keeping innovative care at the forefront of our mission when it comes out later this year.
