Chestnut Ridge FAQs

Chestnut Ridge at Rodale is Phoebe Ministries’ newest independent living facility located in Emmaus, PA. This state-of-the-art campus celebrated its official opening in May with a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony welcoming residents to their new homes.

With new places come new questions. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions and answers for prospective residents:

What kind of amenities are available at Chestnut Ridge?

Chestnut Ridge supports active living through amenities such as an indoor pool, a fitness studio, walking/biking trails, outdoor and indoor community gathering spaces, gardening areas, in-home smart technology, and low-maintenance living with landscaping and snow removal.

What fitness classes are offered at Chestnut Ridge?

Chestnut Ridge offers weekly fitness and pool classes, including yoga, guided meditation, water aerobics, and Zumba—all designed to stimulate your senses and promote brain health. These activities aid memory and focus, improve mental health by reducing depression, anxiety, and stress, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to do everyday activities. Our trained and experienced fitness specialist(s) are ready to work with you in a fun and safe environment. 

Is there a walking trail?

A nature trail of approximately .93 of a mile is located adjacent to the property. The trail is available for independent strolls or group walks through our Fitness by Phoebe program.

What are the dining options?

Chestnut Ridge offers 3 different dining venues to choose from:

  • The Foundry provides chef-prepared meals daily from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Chestnut Ridge’s specialty menu, “Foundry Favorites,” offers a handful of elevated meal options.
  • The Marketplace offers 24-hour access to a full line of hot and cold beverages, including locally sourced coffee from Firehouse Coffee, based in Maxatawny, PA. Other options include freshly made grab-and-go salads, sandwiches, breakfast bento boxes, fresh baked gourmet pastries, and many more chef creations inspired by our abundance of locally sourced meats, cheeses, and produce. 
  • The Pub serves alcoholic beverages and specialty drinks and is open daily from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Residents receive dining dollars each month to spend in these dining areas. 

Is Wi-Fi included?

Phoebe offers WIFI to residents and visitors. This service is a shared community WIFI where each resident is provided their own network and password.

What can you tell me about the pool?

The pool and adjoining hot tub are located on the first floor of the 400 building and can only be accessed by using a resident’s key fob. Open swimming is permitted at any time when a class is not in session. The “buddy system” is encouraged during swim times for your safety, as there is no on-duty lifeguard. Towels are provided for your convenience.

What is the animal policy at Chestnut Ridge?

Pets (limited to dogs, cats, birds, and fish) are permitted at Chestnut Ridge at Rodale. Pet washes are available for use on the first floor of the 410 building. The size of the residence must be able to accommodate the number and size of pets sufficiently. Exceptions to these terms may be made on a case-by-case basis with approval from administration.
